The challenge
Orbit's learners were adults studying after work in twenty-minute fragments, but the platform was built around the semester, not the fragment. Completion stalled at 29%, and learners told us they lost the thread between sessions and never regained it.
Our approach
- 01Designed around re-entry: every return lands on the exact sentence you stopped at
- 02Added a sixty-second recap of the previous session
- 03Ran a single persistent progress spine the length of the product
- 04Used motion only where it communicates a state change
Results
- 29 → 56%
- Course completion
- 4.6/5
- Learner satisfaction, post-launch
- 18 wks
- Strategy to shipped platform
In the client's words
“They designed for the tired version of our learner. That's a choice most teams never make.”
Outcome
- Course completion from 29% to 56%
- Learner satisfaction of 4.6/5 post-launch
- Strategy to shipped platform in eighteen weeks
